
<p>Man kauft einen Sack Kartoffeln, verstaut ihn im Vorratsschrank – und nach ein paar Tagen sprießen die ersten Keime. Diese Keime enthalten Solanin, einen Stoff, der in größeren Mengen gesundheitsschädlich ist. Deshalb solltest du Kartoffeln nicht nur kühl und dunkel lagern, sondern auch ein paar kleine Tricks kennen, damit sie länger frisch bleiben.</p>

<p>Kartoffeln gehören an einen dunklen, kühlen und trockenen Ort. Am besten in eine Holzkiste, einen Leinenbeutel oder einen offenen Korb. Sie sollten niemals direkt neben Zwiebeln liegen, da diese die Haltbarkeit negativ beeinflussen können. Ein Keller oder Vorratsschrank ohne viel Licht ist ideal.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-der-kleine-hack-mit-dem-grossen-effekt"><strong>Der kleine Hack mit dem großen Effekt</strong></h2>



<p>Zusätzlich schwöre ich auf einen simplen, aber genialen Trick: Ich lege ein oder zwei <strong>Lorbeerblätter</strong> zwischen die Kartoffeln. Der Grund? Lorbeer verströmt ätherische Öle, die eine natürliche keimhemmende Wirkung haben. Sie sorgen dafür, dass die Knollen länger glatt und frisch bleiben und nicht so schnell austreiben. Ganz nebenbei vertreiben Lorbeerblätter auch kleine Vorratsschädlinge, die sich gern an Lebensmitteln bedienen.</p>

<p>Wenn du die Wirkung verstärken möchtest, kannst du auch einen Apfel zu den Kartoffeln legen. Klingt paradox, schließlich sorgt das vom Apfel abgegebene Ethylen-Gas normalerweise dafür, dass Obst und Gemüse schneller reifen und verderben. Doch bei Kartoffeln ist es genau andersherum: Das Gas wirkt hemmend auf die Keimbildung – und verlängert so die Haltbarkeit deiner Knollen.</p>
